Grace's Green Team is pleased to provide Equal Exchange products to our church community. Our Equal Exchange Ministry provides fair trade coffees and teas at wholesale prices plus a small markup to cover administrative costs and to fund the furthering of the “Green Mission” of the Grace community.
The fair trade movement, of which Equal Exchange is a part, organizes indigenous farmers and growers into cooperative markets in which they develop sustainable livelihoods through democratic principles. Equal Exchange products meet a strict set of guidelines that ensure both quality of product and economic development of indigenous peoples.
Due to the worldwide recession, Equal Exchange has had to change its coffee pricing. Mixed cases of coffee are no longer allowed. Since the case price represents a significant cost savings over the single item price, the Green Team will now place orders for cases of coffee only; there are six bags per case. You may continue to request single bags of coffee, but your order for single items will be collected until a full case of your item can be ordered. Orders will be placed once a total of $150 in orders has been placed; this limit provides us free shipping.
Based on our history, we expect the number of shipments from Equal Exchange to remain about the same each year, though they will occur at irregular intervals. We will notify you when your requested items are ordered, and items must be picked up in person at the church. One nice thing about this change is that it allows to actually lower the per item price by $1.
